Following the successful production of Alice the Musical in January 2024, we were delighted to return to the stage with our second musical, The Wizard of Oz, in January 2026.
In a wonderful showcase of talent, dedication and imagination, the fifth and sixth class pupils of Mercy Convent Primary School brought the beloved story of The Wizard of Oz to life. From the moment the curtain lifted, our audiences were taken on an unforgettable journey down the Yellow Brick Road. The cast delivered outstanding performances and their hard work, creativity and enthusiasm shone throughout. Months of rehearsals went into ensuring that the girls were well prepared under the expert guidance of Ms. Emma MacNerney, Ms. Sarah Donnan and Ms. Ciara McCormack. Our superb choreographers.
Ms. Lauren Fitzgerald and Ms. Sarah Kavanagh, inspired both energy and precision in every dance routine, helping the girls to grow in confidence and bring magic to the stage.
Ms. Kate Smyth and Mr. John Daly brought the world of Oz to life. Every detail was carefully prepared and thoughtfully designed. Their dedication behind the scenes ensured each performance had impressive props for our musical production. A special word of thanks goes to Ms. Sinéad Buckley for her creativity with tickets, items on set and our programme memento. Mr. Cathal Ruane, Ms Kate Smyth,Mr. Ross McCabe and Ms. Alice Feighery kept the show on the road with their skilful work backstage.
A big thank you to Ms. Sadhbh Clancy and Ms. Edel Woulfe for assisting with ticket sales and seating each night. Behind every successful production is a hardworking team, and our backstage crew certainly lived up to that role; thank you to Ms. Maria Treacy, Ms. Sophie Mullins, Ms. Trish Judge, Ms. Ciara Blacoe, Ms. Amalia Saucedo Castillo and Ms. Róisín McNamee. From supervising rehearsals and assisting pupils behind the scenes to coordinating entrances, exits, costumes and props, they provided invaluable support to our cast throughout the rehearsal process and performances. As the final scene came to a close, the audience rose in a standing ovation and applause, a well-deserved recognition of the dedication and effort of everyone involved.
