Parents’ Association

We are very fortunate to have an active and supportive Parents’ Association in the Mercy Convent Primary School.

The aim of the Parents’ Association is to work in partnership with the Principal, staff and Board of Management to enhance the educational experience of the children and to foster and help build an effective link between home and school.

All parents of children in the school are members of the Parents’ Association; these parents elect a committee at the Parents’ Association Annual General Meeting (AGM) to work on their behalf from one school year to the next.

At the AGM in September 2023, the Officers appointed for the school year 2023/2024 were:

  • Chairperson: Mary Feighan
  • Treasurer: Michelle Gaffney
  • Secretary: Maura Fleming

The Parents’ Association is affiliated to the National Parents Council (NPC).

The Parents’ Association supports the school in the organisation of events and initiatives throughout the school year, and also fundraise so they may organise fun and learning activities that will enhance the school experience for the children.

Some of the events organised in the 2023/2024 school year include a welcome coffee morning for new Junior Infant parents, table quiz night, charity clothes collections, Easter raffle, treats for Santa’s school visit, personalised hoodies for 6th class students, ice cream van and a First Holy Communion reception in the school for students and their families.

The Parents’ Association cannot function without the kind volunteering of parents within the school. There are plenty of ways to help out, whether you can volunteer your time, or your skills and they are always grateful for your participation. Meetings are held once a month on a Tuesday / Wednesday evening at the school.

New members are always welcome! If you would like to get involved you can contact the Parents’ Association at

The Parents’ Association have a SumUp store for online donations and fundraising activities and it can be accessed here:
