Well done to the school basketball team on their recent run of matches.
In spite of not having a proper court, this brave team have scored three wins in a row.
First up was a close encounter with the well organised and competitive Maynooth girls\’ team. A very narrow win 8-6; the last basket by Rebecca being thrown in as the final whistle blew! Very dramatic!
Next up was a road trip to Monasterevin. The large court and high baskets threw the team at first but their defence was immense. They kept the faith in spite of the very technical ref and came out on top, again by the narrowest of margins; 12-10. They learned lots of valuable lesson about rules that day!
And then came the trip to Ballymany in Newbridge. As always, lovely hosts and a great atmosphere. This was a tough venue last year and we knew it was going to be a battle. The girls were again excellent in defence to keep out the home team in the first half who were well practised at shooting hoops.
The lay-up practice began to pay off as our shots finally started to go in and the team pulled away in the final quarter with a scoreline of 14-4.
Next up will be Kilcullen,Kildare and finally, the reigning champions, Kill.
The very best of luck to the team!!
